Steam Game Events
Not long ago Cole, Martin, Daniel and me had a little game session on Steam and at one point or another, we wondered if the rest of you play on Steam as well. Maybe we could use this thread to organize such events so more BlenderNewbies could join?

Count me in, although won't be able to join in until around May 13th. Due to school and surgery.

Team FOrtress 2.
Left 4 Dead [2]
Borderlands 1/2
Garry's Mod
Monaco.
That seemed to be our list of common games between us in the group.
Cole and myself played several hours of Arma 3 after all the others went to bed.

Re: Steam Game Events
Saturday? Sounds like a plan to me.
I'm just gonna list some of the fun multiplayer games I have:
- GTA4 (Martin actually fixed his installation of the game - we played together last weekend)
- CS: GO
- TF2
- CoJ BiB (somehow I think that I'm the only one that has it)
- Tower Wars (kind of suck at this one; I played some mp with Martin and we both played defensive style - boring lol)
- DEFCON (haven't really played that in a while)
- DotA (never played this one)
- SkyDrift (we should really play some racing games as well)
- RotT (gotta try to fix this one - it crashes on load)
Non-Steam free to play games:
- NFS World (haven't played this one in a while)
- World of Warplanes (neither this one)

Re: Steam Game Events
It's F2P on Steam these days. I don't know how fun it would be with other people though. It's kinda slow paced, and not very group-game appropriate maybe.Dobi wrote:- World of Warplanes (neither this one)
DEFCON is a cool one though.

Hmmm... I'll have to update my games! I don't think I have any of those, but could probably pick up a few for cheap I'd think. Anyone still play any of the UT's? Love me some run and gun!

i loved the UT's too..i only got the old ones tho
UT, ut 2003, 2004 too...
UT 3 for some weird reason is not available on steam for germany probably due to some content ...
imagine what you playing there..somewhere in the game is something that someone somewhere might find offensive .....somehow.... makes one think, huh
hey Xray you can never go any wrong with Downloadfing team fortress 2 ..its a very brilliant free 2 play team shooter wich still packs a ton of punch in MP:)
and f2p in that case doesnt mean pay 2 win or the like, no catch or anything...
i figured some of us have Nation Red..might be worth playing now or then for a coupe o rounds too!

Sounds good to me. I'm pretty sure long ago I played the first team fortress, so yeah, I'll have to give it a try.
Bring all those UT's on too! I used to do some damage with UT2k4!

Re: Steam Game Events
You guys want to go a bit earlier this time? This lets the Europeans stay on longer, and (I must admit) serves my selfish reasons. I have plans later on as well.
1PM Eastern US, 7PM CEST maybe?

Considering the fact that he wrote this on Saturday, he probably meant next Saturday. We didn't play last week... or at least I didn't.

Re: Steam Game Events
"He?" I'm right here!
Yeah, I thought you played last weekend. Eh, say I'm just recovering from altitude sickness.
Queue blog post: Friend was driving here from a few hours away to spend the weekend. Three of us total planned to do an evening hike on Fri. because Sat/Sun. were busy. A day before, we decided to overnight, so I went into overdrive with the checklists. I'm camp cook, so in addition to my clothing/sleep gear/water, I carried most of the food and the kitchen sink. Originally, we had planned to hike to the top of the mountain that same night before coming back down a little distance below timberline to camp. But we underestimated the weight of our packs with only three of us (~40-50lb). We, at least I was/were pretty exhausted by the time we reached the end of the campable zones a few hours later, so we decided to hunker down for the night. We searched around for a good spot for 20 minutes or so, but it's hard to find a good spot using only the light of your headlamps.*
We found one though, and after de-gearing, we build an industrial grade fire ring (Colorado: fire conscious), and broke out the awesome grub. The guys had a blast making fun of the wide range of stuff I was pulling out of my burlap food bag. ("You brought a stirring spoon, AND a ladle??? *laughter*") Baked beans with repurposed hotdogs, corn, onions, and scrambled eggs later, we just sat around chewing the fat until around 1:00am before rolling out our sleeping bags and turning in.
We awoke at 6 or so, made a light breakfast, hid out extraneous gear, and finished our climb. We didn't really feel like having lunch on smushed bread, so we trooped back down and drove into town for some Italian.
It had been a spectacular night for this, crystal clear sky with the stars out in all their glory. Temps about 35-40 with a gentle breeze. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend with friends.
I thought someone might have been interested in knowing what I did over the weekend. It was a tremendously good time, and I wish I could have shared it with more people.
* You know what happens when when you roll out your synthetic sleeping bag on a slippery blue tarp, on even a gentle slope? Picture this: roll over, slide 6 inches down hill. Should have put a rock under my feet, but I thought of that only later. I was sliding to the point of putting my feet over the face of one guy, and he was sliding into the fire. Every few hours you wake up, and belly crawl back uphill to your tarp.
