Affordable Personal 3D Printing?!
Hey all,
I don't know if any of you go to Kickstarter or not, but recently there has been a new project for an affordable personal 3D printer: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Early funders were able to nab one at $199, which is a pretty great price for a 3D printer. The current price they are going for are $299, and that's the amount I funded. The main cost it seems will be buying the filament, at $50 per spool, (although for each $12 you add to your backing while it's still on Kickstarter you get an additional spool, so that's pretty good).
They'll start shipping these between August 2014 and March 2015, hopefully I'll get mine closer to the August date. Then I'll let you guys know how the printing goes!
Any thoughts on the printer? Anyone interested in getting their own?

Me and some of my collegues have been talking about getting one for the office, but we still haven't reached a final agreement. I'll let you know if we do, though.

This looks pretty neato, if small. My college has a couple though so I'd probably just use those for now at least.

Where I work at my University, we have 2 large Dimension Elite 3D printers and then 6 smaller cube printers (similar to the Micro printer). I've never used them, since I've been too busy to make too much stuff, but once I graduate I'd like to start. But by then I won't have access to the 3D printers at my work, hence my interest in getting my own.
