Long term challenge suggestion

Re: Long term challenge suggestion
Now that I'm on summer vacation, I have time to do this. So I'd be willing to give it a shot also.

Cool! Which one would you like to go for? Also, should we all work on only one, right simply choose whatever random concept art suits our fancy (also others not shown here)?
I personally would like to work on #1. It looks like a pleasant scene aesthetically, as well as being relatively easy to do. I'd also love to do #3, but there's a LOT of stuff going on in that one.

Both of these are fantastic too, though both, especially the latter are pretty hardcore.

Re: Long term challenge suggestion
for a long time i've been wanting to try to do a scene based on the 'french street cafe' paintings that you all have probably seen. there's bunches of them. there are a few that really intrigue me due to the lighting of the scene.
but i think we should pick one of the ones you've already posted, i like that there are choices, but we are still narrowed down a bit.
i was going to say which ones i would like to try, but for some reason i can't see the images now on my work computer...i'll be back...
edit: 5 minutes later and now they show up?? anyway 6, 8, 10, and 11 all seem interesting, i would probably try one of those.

Re: Long term challenge suggestion
Maybe pick from the ones you posted that way it limits what we have to do, but at the same time it allows for us to work on different pieces instead of everyone doing the same. Personally I like 1, 5, 6, 9, 10.

Re: Long term challenge suggestion
Anyone else want to weigh in on this? Seems at the moment we have overlapping interest in #1, and #10.

Re: Long term challenge suggestion
I think I'll go with what Scott suggested and makes this a free-for-all fun event.
Everyone simply pick a scene you like, (concept doesn't even need to be shown here) and simply work on it!
I think with the lack of rules and structure, more people will feel willing to participate.
Let's try to finish at least one by roughly the first of June

Cool, I'm going to probably give #12 a go. I think it simply looks adorable and fun to make.

Be sure to check this out for #12.
I could imagine all kinds of adorable shenanigans I could get this cat into in a long animation.

Re: Long term challenge suggestion
i've really got to get started on this....
i'm reminded of xraygunners thread at blendernewbies on 'what's holding you back'...i think was the title.
we've been remodelling a bathroom, and i'm always looking for a little bit of overtime at work, and usually we can't have any, but now they're calling me out on my off days, but i'm definitely going to try to get started.....soon......i hope.

Man I hear that! I'm typing this all bleery eyed. My "spare" time comes from loss of sleep!

Seems like at least two of you want[ed] to participate at one point or another. Would it help if we extended this challenge until perhaps halfway through June? I don't want to exclude anyone and since this is just for fun, the time doesn't really matter anyway.

Re: Long term challenge suggestion
I'm such a tool! I really should give this a go. You know I really haven't even made a solid effort to ever model anything beyond a simple concept spacecraft? I've been whining and moaning about how I need to get going on all of this and I'm still sitting on my arse! ...hmmm. Lemme think it over.
