Ender's Game (Movie Review)
Ender's Game is a good movie and worth the price of admission to see it on the big screen.
While most movies have a story with a nice little lesson tucked inside, Ender's Game is a lesson with a story lightly wrapped around it.
From a military and Latter-Day Saint perspective*, I felt the movie had two lessons:
- Hidden just in case you might want to watch the lessons unfold for yourself while watching the movie.:
- 1. Strategic thinking in all aspects of life are key.
2. Delegate so you aren't overwhelmed, and then trust in those you delegate to.
Also, having been bullied more than most as a kid (I think most of us art- or computer-oriented kids can say we were), I felt a strong connection to Ender.
*(Ender's Game could be seen as being based on the basic premise of Helaman's Army mixed with Nephi--but then takes off in its own direction. The Book of Mormon is like half a book of warfare and half a book of religious doctrine and prophesy---it takes a minute to explain.)
The scene where this frame was taken gave me goosebumps... I might go see the movie again just for this part. Yeehagh!
Bunny's score: Four Blenderheads
Better than: The Last Starfighter, Captain Phillips (for 2013 reference)
As good as: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (for Children hero's reference)
Not as good as: The opening scene to Star Wars III, but better than the rest of the movie; Gravity (for 2013 reference)
