Turntable object track Empty Turntable object track

I was hoping to just gather some ideas here. I've been biting off a bit more than I can chew here lately and this is one of my daft moves! I've obtained some video of a friends jetski on a turntable of sorts. The camera is on a tripod, so there's no movement there. Any thoughts on tracking the revolving jetski in hopes of adding 3D additions later?

I've got some quick and dirty ideas, but nothing I want to put a whole lot of time into right now.

Just incase there are no answers or good answers, I just want to remind everyone out there that might try something "like" this.... MAKE SURE YOU GET THE BEST FOOTAGE YOU KNOW HOW TO GET!!!! "I'll fix it in post" is really not the way to go! Just sayin'! bom

Hmm well..if the tripod was perfectly accurate and the turntable would rotate at a specific speed one wouldnt actually need to track it since u would know all the necessary paramters to just set up a similar scene in blender and time it properly...

BUT ..since reality isnt as clean as the idea of it, one could probably notice the offset between the 'mathematicly staged' setup and the real footage...
so i think u would have to use the camera tracker anyway...with the mounted camera u dont have to reconstruct the motion or rotation.
However i m not sure if the tracker does a good job with markers that rotate into the background ...i assume one would use some other markers for when the original ones get culled from the foreground again...

and i bet theres some sort of 'think out of the box' way that one could probably use that is much more simple ..i just can't think of one ...

Thanks for the reply... Yep, I beat myself up over that for a while. I still have yet to revisit it, but I'm sure I'll agonize over it another time. Thanks for the thoughts though, I might have to explore them soon enough!
