Re: Gas Station
Definetly lookin' good.
Now, what it needs IMO is some dust, particles and more little details to make it look more natural... oh, and a hotrod in the garage.

Re: Gas Station
it would be neat to do two versions...one like it was when it was brand new, with a new era appropriate vehicle, and then one like most of those type stations look now, run down and grown up, and with the same vehicle in the same spot, rusted out.
Re: Gas Station
that wouldnt say much for the mechanics back then....(still waitin for parts)
that would be cool though

Re: Gas Station
Actually this is specifically designed for my Bowden bike. I plan on a tow truck and a car. Vending machine Pop and cigarette and full garage props. The doors already are rigged to open correctly. I will also need a boy and gas station attendant. Maybe a mechanic working on a car. So I have a long way to go.

From what I remembered about that post, this render of the station itself looks more realistic. What improvements have you made or did you render it with Cycles, perhaps?

Re: Gas Station
Yea it's cycles. This shot is just a screen capture from the 3d window. I haven't even bothered to make decent materials yet. These are just basic materials with no bump, spec or damage maps. I figured I would do all the modeling then work on the lighting and materials last.

Re: Gas Station
Damage maps? You mean textures for cracked windows or what?

Re: Gas Station
Dobi; I'm not sure what it is in this case, but frequently a damage map is simply a stencil (greyscale, but in no means detail-less) that masks in a separate grunge or corruption texture.

Re: Gas Station
Good description RR. That would be it. A grunge texture would be a what I meant.

I think I've heard them called dirt maps too... although that may be aimed directly at dirt. Dunno
