The Webley-Fosbery automatic revolver is a early 20th century British revolver chambered in .445 Webley (at least the version I'm making is). It's a pretty neat design, but it doesn't seem to have caught on seeing as only 2000 were made or something like that.

I'm working on kind of a new workflow for me which should be pretty good. Normally I'd model each part to nearly full detail before moving on to the next part, but this time around I'm doing a fast loose blockout of all the parts before really detailing it in. As such, you might notice that there are tons of n-gons and not really great topology. That's ok though because I'll get that fixed up when I start detailing it in.

Here's the blockout in it's current stage:

And the wires so far (this is with 'Draw All Edges' enabled, so you can see that most of the flat surfaces are just n-gons):

It's missing the hammer and release for the reloading mechanism (you press the release and the cylinder and barrel 'break' forward so you can put in the new cartridges). Seeing as there's only 2000 of these suckers, it can be quite difficult to find reference, however excepting the recoil/cycling mechanism it's relatively similar to other Webley revolvers so I can kind of fudge it based on reference for those.

Oh, here's a few of the references I'm using so you can see what it's supposed to look like:

Tell me what you think! C&C appreciated

It's always weapons with you, isn't it? Haha.

I can't say too much since you're just blocking it out. Although I am interested in seeing the results of the workflow.

Yeah, weapons. Always weapons.

Yeah, hopefully it'll be quicker since I wont be caught up in details all the time.

Alrighty, here's the finished blockout:

The hammer/break release was surprisingly difficult to find reference for, so some of it is just made up. Should hold up though.

Alrighty, here's an update:

I still have the grips, cylinder and a bunch of small details to hi-res-ify but it's getting there.

Coming along nicely. Seems like an old PI-type piece.

An odd choice for a weapon though, isn't it? Any particular reason for this revolver?

I found a picture of it somewhere on the internet and thought it'd be cool to model, so I started looking for reference and then started making it.
