Re: .mov Output?
Good afternoon,
If you are wanting to render a ready to view movie with sound just for fun then I use Xvid. See the settings in the attached image. I am not knowledgeable on all of the setting for codec and stuff, but it work in my windows media player.
Good luck,
Scooter

Thanks Scooter!
That's the way I have it set up.
Could you list the actions necessary to render and produce an output file?
Thanks a lot!

Re: .mov Output?
Good morning,
if you want to render with lights and textures (full render) then you click the "animation button" in the render panel. If you want to do a quick render without lights and textures and only use the diffuse colors, the click the little "marker" icon on the bottom right of your 3d view. Remember to set the number of frames you want rendered, or it will try to render all set in the timeline. Your file should go to a ".tmp" directory in your C drive, but it could be set to something else.
Good luck.

Re: .mov Output?
I'm just going to throw my 2 cents in here, but I would advise against rendering as a .mov or .avi file (basically any put together movie/animation file). The reason being is that if you notice an error in the rendering half way through, you have to re-render everything. What is typically done when rendering animations is that you will render every frame as a still image (.tiff, .png, .jpg) and then compile them together in a program such as After Effects. That way, if you do run into any issues while rendering, you just have to re-render the images with issues and not all of them.

Re: .mov Output?
Good advise.
I only use these when rendering for fun or quick checks.
Thanks,
Scooter
