Shade smooth sometimes show face edges
Good morning,
Sometimes shade smooth does show face edges on my characters, but not very often. Is there a way to reduce that chance besides changing the mesh? My character is already completed and used in animations with shape keys, so I think cutting in more faces or upping the subsurf would be a problem.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Scooter

If you haven't tried it already, use the split edge modifier. Works like a charm!!

Good morning,
Thanks for the reply. That is an interesting modifier, but does not appear to do what I am after.
Thanks,
Scooter

Can you take a screenshot of the problem area and post it? I'm just not entirely sure what you mean. Since my current train of thought is that some of the verticies are not connected and as a result you should select them in the problem area and remove doubles.

Good evening,
how do I insert or upload an image? The "insert image" icon I found asked for a URL and I did not know what to do with that. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Scooter

It's looking for an outside host such as "image shack" or "photobucket" or some such hosting site. Once you upload there, then you can cut and paste the URL and let it be seen by all!!

The forums also do it internally.
First click:

And it'll bring up:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Then just choose your image and host it.

Re: Shade smooth sometimes show face edges
Good evening,
I tried to upload an image and mine does not say "File" and then "Choose File" mine says "File" a long blank space and "Brows". I tried that and browsed to my file and then clicked "open" and it loads three different file paths. One called Thumbnail, one called Image and one called Image URL each says copy at the end of their path.
I click host and the image does not show up.
any suggestions?
Thanks,
Scooter

Copy the middle link to your clipboard and then paste that link into your post.
Re: Shade smooth sometimes show face edges
So, does the forum server then host the image, or is it dependent on your computer being online? I guess I've never paid attention to that option. I really need to do more of that... pay attention thing!

Okay,
I am going to try again. Okay, it looks like the copy middle path worked. Thanks a bunch.
You can see the flat shaded face in the middle of the picture. Is there a setting I can change to improve that? Please let me know.
Thanks,
Scooter
