advanced lighting, compositing, rendering book or dvd
Good evening,
does anyone know of an advanced expert level lighting, compositing and rendering book or dvd that is for Blender? I have read plenty of beginners material and need more formal training.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Scooter

For Blender specific, there is "[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]" and "[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]" by Packt.
Now that you have finished the beginner's training material, I think you are ready to move on to non-program specific material. For that I recommend "[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]". It's a very useful book.

Good evening,
I purchased Digital Lighting and Rendering last night. I am anxious to read it. I will check into the compositing book after that.
Thanks again,
Scooter

You won't regret it--it's a great book. I have the other two as well, but I haven't really gone through them too much. The composting one goes through each node's features, but doesn't really go into "how", more of the "why"--the first third of the book is mostly theory. The materials book gives step-by-step instructions on how to achieve a specific look--but by doing so you learn what the nodes are capable of doing when you start staking them. I would wait until Packt does their $5 sale before buying either. When they do have these sales, I always post here in BW--so keep your eye out!

I hope forumotion notifies me of your post when that happens! The last time I missed it because the post/thread wasn't highlighted as "unread"...BnBGobo99 wrote:When they do have these sales, I always post here in BW--so keep your eye out!

That's been happening to me a lot lately, too!
I think that settles it, I'm going to contact Kernon and buy BlenderNewbies from him and set the page back up. That'll be my summer project. [Nevermind--it's more work than I can realistically take on.]
BTW, I asked if anybody was interested in passing around a "thinking of you" card for Kernon and I only got a few replies... So if you are interested please send me your address through PM and we'll get this thing rolling.
Thanks for letting us have a little tangent on your thread, Scooter!

Thanks a bunch for the information.
I have been wondering what happened to Kernon? I knew Blender Newbies fell silent, but never knew why.
Thanks,
Scooter

In a word, health issues alongside some unfortunate circumstances snowballed into a very bad situation for him. He was doing poorly physically, and other life issues held him up and kept him away for too long. When he got back to the surface, he had a real mess to deal with, PR wise.Scooter2 wrote:Thanks a bunch for the information.

Mike, if you haven't sent this yet, I'd be under the "the BN guys say "Hi"" post script, if you're not against us freeloading on your card.

Yeah, count me in as well. I can whip up a greeting card, just like I did the last time, if this is what we're going to do.
Btw, why don't you make a special thread so more people could see it?

I did! (at least I'm pretty sure it did)
Re: advanced lighting, compositing, rendering book or dvd
Hope Kernon is well. If anyone still talks to him, please relay it for me. Thanks.
