Christmas Gift for Wife
Hey all,
My wife is big into crafting (cardmaking and what-not), so I wanted to get her something special this Christmas. We have a pact--she doesn't by electronic for me and I don't buy crafting stuff for her--instead we pick a few items out for ourselves and the other person selects one out of them to get, 'pays', and surprises the other on Christmas. My wife has had a difficult semester, so I wanted to not only get her a larger value but also a custom-made gift certificate.
Let me know what you all think:

Wow, that's great!
Hobby Lobby definitely sounds like the perfect choice for her!

Great indeed!
I am going to ask 1 thing, though. Did you make all the text stuff by manipulating font objects in Blender? I'm asking because I've had some hard time dealing with badly generated geometry.

The Stampin' Up!, Michael's, and papertrey ink logos are all .jpg files converted into .svg vectors and imported into Blender.
The $365, Hobby Lobby logo, and the text at the bottom are Blender text objects converted into curves. Both the Hobby Lobby and the $365 were duplicated, one duplicate given a bevel and front/back faces turned off, and the other duplicate was inset to make it a little bit smaller than the other.
I did experience pinching and other problems with the text objects, too. By converting them to curves, you can manipulate individual vectors to correct those issues.

Then I guess I have been doing it wrong for my entire life - so far I've been converting font objects to polygonal objects to fix pinching and that kind of stuff by modifying the face topology! *facepalm smiley needed here, when are we finally going to get one?* Anyway, thanks

I played with making different textures or materials for the gift certificate's objects, but in the end I settled on the un-materialed clay look and printed it out at Walmart.
I also hand-drew a card for her:

Before committing the design to pen, I sketched it several times in a sketchbook, and then lightly penciled it in on the card. Here's a shot of my trial runs.

My wife is a bit of a Run DMC 80's Adidas gangster, so she's wearing her hoodie and adidas pants. The shape of her character was based on Nihao Kailan's [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] character. The bunny idea was taken from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. I steal ideas, I admit it.
Here's me trying to be fancy with the DOF:
