Xray's progress folder
I'm going to start this off with the 2D stuff, and in particular charcoals. Eventually I'll add some other stuff, but here goes.
This is actually my FIRST charcoal. I know I stated somewhere else that Mark Twain was the first, but I found this in the archives and it is actually the first. There's tons that could be fixed, but oh well...

It's hard to tell the size based on the tooth of the paper, but I'm guessing 18"? I bet that took many an hour to accomplish! Being that you have a knack for drawing, what was your appeal to moving over to 3D?
Re: Xray's progress folder
If I remember correctly this one took roughly the same amount of time as Mark Twain... about 14-18 hrs. And yes, it's 18" x 24". I have for some reason been able to slightly speed up the process with this next one I'm working on though. At this point I've got about 9.5 hrs in it, and really the most progress was made in the last 3 or so hours of it. It's a long way from being done though, so I guess I shouldn't get too excited! Now the big one is the fly in the ointment. I've got 30+ in it and it's looking like it will be in excess of 200 or so when it's all said and done. Really this wouldn't be such a problem if I had more time to spend on stuff like that. So, wish in one hand and poop in the other I guess!...
Being an "older" dog, I've been drawing way before I had the opportunity to use 3D. All things art intrigue me and 3D seems to be a natural fit since I also love problem solving and the like. I've always been weak with color, though. So maybe that's why I'm drawn to 3D... I can manipulate light and allow the computer to do a good part of that for me. I also love the ability to get in there and just experiment. It's like my own personal lab! How about you guys? What's the draw?
On a slightly different note, I have a question about housekeeping. I'm beginning to have all kinds of stuff in different threads and was wondering if you all would prefer things in one spot? Maybe that's a bit OCD-ish, but I just can't help it. It's starting to bug me.

Just let me know which threads you want to merge and I'll do so.

Woah this is pretty well done.
I think having classical drawing skills under your belt really is a talent that adds alot to doing 3D ...
Also the overall will to design things and go the extra mile of detailing etc.
I love drawing..but i mainly do graffiti sketches or stuff for work. Never really found the patience and skill to get something elaborate done.
